Indium is element 49, a post-transition of the p block, in group 13, period 5. Its ground-state configuration is [Kr] 4d10 5s2 5p1, and it usually shows the oxidation states 0, 1, 2, 3.
It was discovered in 1863, by Reich and Richter.
